What the Founders Railway Carriage Is
The Founders Railway Carriage is a restored railway carriage converted into private accommodation on the Founders Reserve. It offers five berths across three cabins, and is taken on an exclusive-use basis — reserved for one party at a time, rather than shared.
It is separate from the lodge’s seven main suites. Where the suites form the heart of the lodge, the carriage is a self-contained retreat with its own setting and sense of seclusion.

It can also extend the capacity of an exclusive-use booking of the whole lodge. The Setting
The carriage stands on its own siding, apart from the main lodge, with views over the surrounding reserve. That separation is part of its appeal: guests have a private base on the Founders Private Reserve — home to giraffe, rhino, zebra, springbok and other antelope — while remaining part of the wider Founders experience.
